Random Steam Game Picker

Scrolling a library of hundreds of games and feeling like there is nothing to play is the most common backlog complaint there is. So stop choosing. Load your library, pick where the game should come from, and spin.

Works with any public Steam profile. Picks, skips and history stay in this browser.

How to use it

  1. Paste your Steam profile link, username or ID and load your library.
  2. Choose the pool: Never launched, Under 1 hour, Under 2 hours, My shelf only, or the Whole library.
  3. Hit Pick a game. Give it a fair go, an hour is a good rule, before you spin again.
  4. Play it now launches the game through Steam and puts it on your shelf. Not for me removes it from future spins for good.

Pick a game you both own

Add a friend's profile and the picker only spins games you both own, which settles the "what should we play tonight" argument in one click. Both profiles need public game details.

Built for clearing a backlog

The picker shares its memory with the Steam backlog calculator. Games you mark Not for me or Done in one tool are skipped in the other, and anything you choose to play lands on your shelf. That pairing is the core of the Five-Game Shelf, the method from our Steam backlog statistics study: keep five games going, give each an hour, and refill empty slots at random instead of browsing.

Everything is stored in your browser. There is no login and nothing about your picks is saved on our side.

FAQ

Is the pick actually random? Yes. Every game in the pool has the same chance. The short shuffle you see before the result is just for show.

Why is my library empty or private? The picker needs your game details set to public. The public profile guide shows the setting.

Can I pick from all of Steam, not just my library? Not here. This picker is for games you already own. If you want something new, Steam Next Fest is a better place to find it, and you can try the demos first.

Does "Play it now" work on Steam Deck or a phone? It uses a steam:// link, which opens the game on any computer with Steam installed. On a phone it will open the Steam app instead.

What counts as never launched? A game with zero minutes of recorded playtime. Games played before Steam began tracking hours in 2009 can show zero too. How Steam tracks playtime covers why.
