Steam Backlog Calculator

Paste a Steam profile and see the pile for what it is: how many games you have never launched, how many you opened for ten minutes and forgot, what they list for on the store today, and how long it would take to get through them at your pace. Then sort them into a plan and save a snapshot so you can see next month whether it is shrinking.

Needs a public profile with public game details. Your buckets and snapshots stay in this browser.

What it shows

  • Never launched. Games with zero minutes on record. This is the number most people mean by backlog.
  • Under an hour and under two hours. Games you opened and left. The two hour line matters because it is also Steam's refund limit.
  • How you compare. Where your never-launched count sits against the 280 random public libraries in our Steam backlog statistics study. Half of them have one never-launched game or none at all, so most people with a real backlog land well above the middle.
  • What the pile lists for. Current US store prices for your never-launched games, at full price and at today's price. It is not what you paid. Most backlogs are bought on sale or in bundles, and free or delisted games have no price at all.
  • Time to clear. Your hours per week against how long a game usually takes you. Both are yours to set, and the answer updates as you change them.

Organize it, then track it

Every unplayed or barely played game starts in Unsorted. Move each one to a bucket:

  • On the shelf: what you are playing now. Five games, maximum.
  • Someday: still want it, not right now.
  • Not for me: bundle filler, lost interest, done with guilt.
  • Done: finished, or played as much as you wanted.

This is the Five-Game Shelf method from our backlog study. When a shelf slot opens, the random game picker can refill it from Someday so you skip the scrolling.

Your buckets and snapshots are saved in this browser only. There is no account and nothing is stored on our side. Hit Save today's snapshot whenever you like and the tracker shows how owned and never-launched counts change over time. Export CSV gives you the full list with buckets if you want it in a spreadsheet.

If it says the profile is private

The calculator needs your game details to be public, which is a separate switch from the profile itself. The public profile guide shows both settings. You can switch them back once you have your numbers.

FAQ

Why do some games show as played when I never really played them? Any recorded minutes count. Launching a game to check settings, card idling tools and a crash on startup can all put a game above zero. That is why under an hour is shown separately.

Why does a game I played years ago show zero? Steam started tracking playtime in early 2009, and offline sessions do not always sync. How Steam tracks playtime explains every case.

Are free-to-play games included? Free games only appear in Steam's data once they have been played, so they never show up as never launched.

Does the value include what I paid? No. Steam does not share purchase prices. The value is what the never-launched games list for on the US store right now, which is why we show both the full price and today's price. For your whole account, try the account value tool.

How is this different from the Steam Stats tool? Steam Stats is about what you did play: total hours and most played games. This one is about what you did not.
