How to see hours played on PlayStation
PlayStation tracks your playtime, and thanks to a 2023 update it now shows it to you more than it used to. The catch is that it still will not add everything into one lifetime total you can sort. Here is exactly where the numbers live, method by method, and the honest limits of each.
For a best-effort view from your public activity, our PlayStation Playtime tool pulls together what it can. For the real per-game numbers, read on.
In the PlayStation App (the easy way now)
This is the method most old guides miss, because it is relatively new.
- Open the PlayStation App on your phone.
- Tap your profile, then go to Games.
- Each game in your library lists the hours played on it.
Players spent years asking for this, and when it finally arrived it made the rounds on Reddit, with one r/ghostoftsushima thread walking through exactly where to find it. The one limit: it shows time per game, not a single grand total for your whole account.
On the console
- Go to your profile and open Games.
- Select a game to see time played alongside its trophies.
Same as the app: per-game numbers, not a combined total.
The annual Wrap-Up (the only yearly total)
The one place PlayStation adds hours up for you is the December Wrap-Up, which gives your total hours for that year and your top games. It is a yearly snapshot, only live for a few weeks, and it cannot be sorted the way you might want. Our Wrap-Up guide covers finding it.
Third-party ways to get a real total
Because PlayStation still will not sum it all up, trophy hunters piece it together with outside tools. Community threads like this r/playstation one point to stat sites such as Exophase, which combine your per-game hours, and phone apps like PS Trophies that report total hours and session counts.
A note on accuracy
- It only counts online, signed-in time. Offline play can be missed until the console syncs.
- The numbers are not always exact. Some players report per-game totals that read low, so treat them as close rather than perfect.
- Old play may be patchy. Very early PS4 and PS3 era hours are not tracked as cleanly.
Common problems
The app shows some games but not hours. Make sure the app is updated. The per-game hours feature is recent, so an old app version will not have it.
I want a single lifetime total. PlayStation does not offer one. The App gives per-game hours, the Wrap-Up gives a yearly total, and third-party stat sites are how people build a lifetime figure.
I want to see someone else's hours. You cannot. Playtime is private on PSN even when a profile and trophies are public.
