What is Counter-Strike 2?

• Responsive smokes. Smoke grenades are now volumetric objects that fill space like a real cloud. They react to the world, so a bullet or an HE grenade fired through a smoke punches a temporary hole in it, and the smoke flows around corners and down stairs instead of being a flat gray wall.
• Reworked maps. Maps were sorted into tiers. Some, like Dust II and Mirage, got lighting and texture touch-ups. Others, like Overpass and Nuke, were rebuilt more heavily. A few were remade from scratch to show off what Source 2 lighting can do.
• Updated visuals and audio. New lighting, better water and particle effects, refreshed player models, and reworked audio so you can place footsteps and gunfire more accurately.

What did not change is the core loop. You still buy weapons at the start of a round, plant or defend the bomb, and manage your team's economy across a first-to-13 match. Sub-tick, and why people argue about it

The community reaction to sub-tick has been mixed, and it is worth being honest about that. On the official Steam discussions and across community forums, plenty of longtime players say hit registration feels less consistent than the old 128-tick servers many of them were used to from third-party services. Others say it feels great and that the complaints are overblown. Valve has patched the sub-tick system repeatedly since launch, so the experience today is not the same as the experience at release.

If you are new, do not overthink it. You will not notice tick rate at all for your first few hundred hours. It only becomes a talking point at a high level of play.
